Day 16 for Usk Sketchmas was a "seasonal product." I thought Christmas trees would fit that very well, so I headed over to the Christmas tree lot by the Sayville Fire Department.
This is definitely seasonal. I don't think there are any tree lots here in Bastrop. Maybe in Austin. There was a tree farm but I haven't seen signs in years.
This makes me think of street corners where Christmas trees are still sold...I have an artificial one and have had for many years. As a child though we always had a real one...we would go out and chop it down and dad would work to fit it into the tree holder. It was so exciting and mom decorated it with icicles that long after Christmas would end up in the sweeper :)! Good memories - hope you are enjoying many as well. Hugs!
I can remember going with my dad to buy a tree in the neighborhood and then all of us kids walking back with him "helping" to carry the tree. It wasn't long before we had an artificial tree and it always had icicles. Mine at home is artificial...but no icicles. Hope you are getting in the holiday spirit. Have a great week!
As a kid we had real trees, cut ourselves. Piñon trees in New Mexico. Last real tree was in the 70s in Denver. It came from Minnesota and was so dry the needles started falling the first day we put it up. Got an artificial next year. Now artificial. Had icicles until about 15 years ago. Good memories.

ReplyDeleteThanks. Several of the churches and fire departments have Christmas trees for sale. One of them sells out in one day. I sketched there last year.
