Venice Views

This was painted by the bridge entering Giardini, a large park here in Venice.

Sometimes the lighting is just right and the shadows are great on the small bridges.

There are so many interesting boats and doorways here.

I call this the gondola parking lot. At night there are about 30 gondolas parked here.

More Views of Venice

I did this early one morning because the street is usually filled with throngs of people, especially tour groups. I finished just in time.

I love the striped poles in front of some of the buildings. It really adds color!

These two paintings were done on Lido which is a barrier island between the Venetian canals and the Ariatic Sea. It is different there, more beachy and newer buildings. It has its own atmosphere.

This one was sketched riding the vaporetto from the bustle of San Marco to the beach at Lido. Usually it is very crowded...standing room only. One day I was lucky enough to get a seat and have some room to sketch. Ciao!

I love all the views along the many canals here in Venice. Each one is different.

Scenes from Venezia

Yesterday I went to paint this restaurant that I have passed a million times. While I was painting a man came out from the bar to look Later he came back with a woman When I finally finished it, I brought it inside to show him. He was behind the bar and when he saw the painting he said, "Bella! Prosecco for you!" and poured me a glass. Then he took me through the restaurant to meet his boss...and then he took it into the kitchen to show the chef. It was a funny situation. I hope to paint the part of the restaurant to the left when I get a chance.

This is one of the quite spots across the canal from Piazza San Marco where most of the tourists are.

Views of Venice Life

Can you imagine sittling right over the canal having some Venetian pasta? This looked like such a nice spot.

I pass this spot every day on the vaporetto going to the market. It took me a while to find out how to get there on foot. Ciao!



Back Street Views

Found this restaurant garden while I was walking around. I loved seeing in through the gate. While I painted one of the waiters kept coming out to look at the painting, finally bringing an old lady with him. I think she owned the restaurant. They loved it.
