This is a plein air I did this weekend at Meadowcroft Estate in Sayville. I liked the barn, but the little garden was such a treat! This is 7 x 10.

More "Water" ATCs
With the damp weather we've been having lately I haven't done much plein air paintings, so here are a few more ATCs that I did for the WetCanvas "Water" exchange.

ATCs for the "Water" Exchange
Here are 3 more of my tiny ATCs that were sent out in the WetCanvas "Water" exchange. I know they are in good hands across the globe.

Hydrangeas
I haven't had much time to paint lately, but did have a bit of time to wander into a local garden and paint the hydrangeas. They always remind me of my grandmother, although she always called them snowballs. This is about 5 x 6.

Young Girl and Pelican Air
Both of these paintings were done for the WetCanvas Weekend Drawing Event hosted by Bonnie. I hadn't done a portrait in a few weeks so I went for that one immediately. I even did this one larger than I have been doing them. It is about 8 x 10.
"Pelican Air" was done on masa paper with watercolors and ink. I've been wanting to do something on masa paper for a while, so I was experimenting a bit. I have very conflicting instructions on how to paint on masa paper, so I'll have to try the other method too. This is 8 x 10.

I have been participating in an exchange on WetCanvas with the theme of "Water." Here are 3 of the ATCs that I sent off to various parts of the world.

Manor House Porch
This was painted in plein air at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Great River. I've painted this spot a few times, most recently when the wisteria was in bloom. This is 8 x 10.

Flo's
Last evening the Patchogue Sketch Club met at Flo's in Rocky Point. It is an institution in the area and had quite a crowd of people last night. (I only included about 1/5 of the number of people that were standing in front. lol). This is 4 x 5.

Peconic Herb Garden
I revisited the Peconic Herb Farm today and did two paintings. This is a small one for my "Sketchbook" project. I've painted this shed from the other side previously.
Next I sketched the view through the doors of one of the open greenhouses. I like the way the double page spread worked for this. The paper I used was pretoned with watercolor paints. Originally I was just going to sketch in ink over the color, but this took on a life of it's own.

WDE Portraits - Young Hippie and Boy with a Hat
My friend, EP, was hosting the Weekend Drawing Event on WetCanvas this weekend, so I decided to try a few little portraits from the photos she supplied.

Stripes on the Beach
This is another painting I did on the beach the other day at Cupsogue Beach. Striped umbrellas always remind me of the one my family had when we were kids. This is also in my book for the "Sketchbook Project."

Cupsogue Beach View
Yesterday I ventured over to Cupsogue Beach on Dune Road in Westhampton. I love the view of the bay from the boardwalk there. This is one of the paintings in my "Sketchbook Project" journal that will be submitted when I finish all the sketches. This is 3 x 5.

Ride Along the River
This was also done at the Wertheim Preserve on Sunday. I did this one from nearly the same spot as the one below, including more of the stream and the vegetation. This is 6 x 8.

Wertheim Preserve
Yesterday I went to the Wertheim Nature Preserve to paint. There is a part where you can sit and see the river with the reeds and grasses. This is part of my "Sketchbook Project" and is 3 x 5.

Wagon and Flowers
This was painted the other evening at a nursery in Patchogue. I loved the displays of flowers and that wagon was too good to pass up. This is 5 x 7.

Yellow Field
On Sunday I was out roaming around the North Fork of Long Island and came across Helen's Greenhouse and Farm which was open to the public. It had a wonderful-looking greenhouse, but I was attracted to the sea of yellow flowers (weeds really) in the field. It reminded me a bit of Tuscany. This is 5 x 7.

Bellport Waterfront
The Patchogue Sketch Club met last night at the Bellport dock. Thunderstorms were forecast, and there was even a tornado watch for part of Long Island, but we painted anyway. lol
This is a home that was right on the bay there. It had a big fence in front of the rose bushes, but I replaced the fence with more of the bushes. I hope the homeowners don't mind. This is 5 x 7.

Susan's Poppies
I am so lucky that my friend, Susan, let me paint in her garden the other day. Her poppies were in perfect bloom, and they were dancing in front of her white fence. I love poppies and rarely find more that one of them anywhere at a time. This is 5 x 7. Thanks, Susan!!
