Day 16 for Usk Sketchmas was a "seasonal product." I thought Christmas trees would fit that very well, so I headed over to the Christmas tree lot by the Sayville Fire Department.

Direct Watercolor #12
I like painting and sketching fire engines but they are usually behind closed doors. I aways check as I pass the fire houses in the area and this time I was rewarded. My #12 30 x 30 Direct Watercolor for the challenge had a subject. When I passed the Sayville fire house there were two bays open and a truck in each. I had just finished painting the first one when several firemen came and closed both bays. Luckily I had enough done to complete the first one and just added the bay door to the second one. I guess my timing worked out!

Sayville Firehouse
I have been wanting to sketch a firetruck for a while, but every time I pass by the local firehouses the doors to the bays are closed and you can't see the trucks. When I passed the Sayville firehouse the other day two of the firetrucks were outside because they were repaving in front of the bays, so the trucks were parked in the parking lot. I was painting this from the parking lot of the supermarket across the street so I didn't have a very close view and it was hard to tell what some things were. I figured it was as close as I was going to get for now.
