Sunflower Field Revisited

There are certain locations that call you back...and this is one of them. On Friday I made another trip to the sunflower field in Center Moriches where I did the painting posted on Aug. 20 below. Unfortunately Mother Nature didn't exactly cooperate. In the days since my group painted there the sunflowers started really shriveling up. I used some artistic license and made them look
fresher than they were.
This is 8 x 10.

  1. They're still lovely! Two other sketcher blogs I visited today also had sketches of sunflowers. . . it must be that time of year!

  2. I like both of these paintings, and can see why you went back.

  3. It really is a beautiful place, Joan, and you paint it beautifully. I do love the rusty auto hiding within so much. Summer is still upon us here with temps in upper 80's and low 90's. Too hot for my taste out there.

  5. Thanks Tina, Polly, Sherry, and Celia! Sometimes it is nice to revisit a place. I'll have to go check out how the field (minus the sunflowers) looks in the fall. That truck might look good contrasted with the autumn colors.

  6. In the hands of an artist...anything can be made beautiful and you certainly did this. I love the old truck you included as well. Have a wonderful day.
