Yesterday the Patchogue Sketch Club met at the Maritime Museum in Sayville to sketch in the evening. I sketched one of the old boats there...not quite seaworthy...but it floats!
You can always find something interesting there to sketch.
This was done in my Stillman & Birn Alpha Sketchbook.
You did a lovely job Joan! It looks like a fun place to sketch.
ReplyDeleteOld boats have so much character, don't they? Love the way you've painted the inlet as well. Gorgeous natural setting and not cluttered with ship materials and gravel, tools and cars.
ReplyDeleteJoan - what a great sketch of a wonderful old piece of history. I love the soft colors you used in keeping with this old fella! Have a wonderful week-end.
ReplyDeleteSo much to catch up on!! Love the boat, the wildflowers revisited is absolutely charming and the lighthouse is a cracking picture. Well done Joan!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a delight to see a plein air painting from an artist who does get outside. In this part of the woods, the weather has not been inviting this summer. Boats are quite challenging and you did a wonderful job. Happy painting Joan.
ReplyDeleteCelia - It is a favorite spot to paint and has great sunsets. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSherry - Thank you. You get nature and old boats there.
Debbie - Thanks. Some day I'm going to learn about some of the old relics they have there.
Kevin - Thanks so much!!! Glad you caught up.
LW Roth - Thanks. I try to get out to paint or sketch most days. I've been lucky.
Excellent sketch, Joan! I love the wonderful greens in the background, as well.
ReplyDeleteREally oustanding, Joan!! You really are so good!!!
