Fire Island Lighthouse

Last week I headed over to Robert Moses State Park for the first time since Hurricane Sandy. They replaced the roadway that had been washed away, but a great deal of the dunes are gone. Now instead of just seeing the top of the lighthouse you can see the entire thing from the beach, so I sat in my comfy  beach chair and painted.

  1. You certainly keep your brushes busy Joan. Really like the simplicity of the composition and the complexity of the grasses. Nice contrast and lovely work.

  2. I imagine over time those dunes will be rebuilt by Nature. Joan, how on earth do you manage so much art? And I love that you do it all plein aire. I wish I had that much get up and go! Another lovely piece in this one.

  6. Michael - I've been back a while. Thanks.

Hilda - They are working on the outside of the lighthouse. Apparently the work was scheduled before Sandy. Thanks.
