Buildings by the Dock

This was sketched along one of the canals in Islip.  I liked the little glimpse you could see between the buildings. Of course while I was sitting in my car sketching someone in a truck pulled in and parked right in front of me. He came over to see if I was waiting to see someone and I told him that I was sketching. "Am I in your way?" he asked. When I said yes he graciously moved his truck to the opposite side of the parking area.

  1. That was nice of him! They usually don't ask or care!

  3. Super sketch Joan and not only was the guy nice enough to move his truck he was aware enough to notice you and ask. Well done!

    1. Thanks, Val. People come over sometimes when I'm sitting in their parking lots to check if I'm in the right place...or the wrong place. lol

  4. A rich number of details in between the buildings! Winterized boats, boatyard crane, warehouse/office, a car and a truck, of course. I wonder what the canal view is like around that bend over to the right building?

  5. Thanks, Mel. You can see across to a trailer park on the other side and a few more boats. I think I've sketched in most spots along there that I could get into. Straight across is a fish market & seafood restaurant with outside seating in the summer.
