Pots and Baskets

When I was at the Peconic River Herb Farm on Friday I did a second piece in my Stillman & Birn journal this time. I painted directly in watercolor for this...no sketching with my pencil. I am really happy with the way this came out.

  3. It came out beautifully Joan!! I love the composition and the different textures, sometimes I want to skip over the sketching but never get such great results.

  4. Ooooh, pretty! Leaving out the line work in this one made it seem looser and more delicate - which was perfect for the subject matter.

  7. Tina, LOL I'm usually not brave enough to sketch in ink first, but I am doing some watercolors directly in paint. Thanks.

    Sherry - Thanks so much!

Celia - Thanks. I wouldn't do it if I considered it an actual painting, but it is in my sketchbook so I figured I should try it.

Mickey - Thanks. Some things work without the pencils lines, but something really architectural is a problem. lol

Kat - Glad you like it. Thanks.

Debbie - It is just such a friendly, relaxed place to paint. You would love it. Thank you.

  8. Peconic Herb Farm is a favorite place to go for my ground covers. We lost everyone to "Sandy". .....now we have to start all over again! This is a beautiful painting...love the flowers!

  9. You've been busy, Joan! This turned out lovely - so airy and bright. And your clouds a few blogs back are really evocative of unstable spring... the moral of the story for artists this time of year is always take a jacket. And a hat. And an umbrella. And a waterproof sketchbook!
