Yaphank Presbyterian Church

A few days ago I was riding around and passed the Yaphank Presbyterian Church.
Of course I turned the car around, parked on the side of the road, and started painting.

  1. I've really enjoyed all your recent sketches Joan. I'm a bit behind as I've been very ill again. I love this church sketch, it looks so strong and almost imposing with it's bright white among all the autumnal colours, yet the green shutters lend it a harmony with it's surroundings. I can imagine it almost glowing in the sunlight. Great stuff!!!

  3. What a gorgeous setting for this quaint New England church. Love that you still have autumn leaves hanging on. We went from full on loaded trees to nothing left in one day of winds.

  4. You are so lucky Joan to be able to drive around, park and then paint especially in this weather. The views I want to paint never have parking areas near them. Gorgeous sketch of the church. Love the autumn feel.

  5. I try to imagine if you paint in the car if the weather is too cold. It's a great autumnal painting

  6. Kevin - I'm sorry you still aren't feeling well. That can definitely slow you down. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Cath - Thanks so much for visiting.

Sherry - Thanks. It depends on where you are if there are leaves here. lol They pop up unexpectedly.

Laura - Thank you. That happens a lot, that I see something I want to paint and there is no parking nearby. Luckily I usually find another location.

Polly - Thanks. I just dress warm, paint away and if I get cold I turn on the heat in the car or go find a coffee shop. lol
