Inktober 2018 - Day 19

It was windy and a bit cold at the Suffolk County Farm. I went there to do some bird sketches for my Day 19 for Inktober 2018. I did a few chickens and then went over by the turkeys. The guy on the bottom right looked like he had tangled with some creature. He was nearly bald in spots and missing so many feathers. I wonder what his story was.

  1. Nice sketches! Let’s hope that that one bird didn’t get its feathers plucked for insulation materials. I wonder too what the real story was.

  2. Great birds! The one at lower left is doing a jig! ;-)

    1. Thank you. I think something was wrong with his leg. He was standing on only one the whole time I was there.

  3. Ha ha - he does look pretty scruffy. I imagine this was tough to do as they probably didn't stand still for very long. Nice work Joan.

    1. The turkeys stayed in one place longer than the chickens. I wonder why.

  4. Good job on the active subjects. Chickens molt so maybe turkeys do too. Don’t know when the season is. Funny to see. I’m smiling and I don’t like birds. Ha.

    1. They were a challenge. He looked like something got at him. Entire sections of feathers were missing.
