Last night I joined the Patchogue Sketch Club at Gather Studios in Patchogue for our evening sketch night. We've sketched there several times, sometimes doing journaling instead of actual sketching. This time I sketched the sink area over by the window. Since there are pottery classes given there you can find an assortment of clay pieces around. I thank them for being so gracious to our group.
Interesting area to paint, and lovely painting too.
ReplyDeleteGreat interesting painting Joan with lots of different elements. I'm in a bit of a subject slump at the minute but you on the other hand are always full of ideas.
ReplyDeleteAh Joan you are always able to find something arresting to sketch. I loved your subject and included "the gathering place" - how meaningful this is as you gather with fellow artists. Thanks for stopping by to visit - the flowers have since been covered with snow but they will continue to bloom under it all. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI really like the way you handled the background on this. It's one of my challenges with sketches, especially in watercolor... I'm never sure whether it's better to go light or dark, and then how to keep it from looking streaky (probably several more years of practice would help!).
ReplyDeleteSomething about that box with "The Gathering Place" that I just love. A wonderful sketch, Joan!
ReplyDeletePolly - Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLaura - Thank you. I've gotten use to sketching almost anything.
Debby - It is such a strange winter with snow and blooming flowers. Thanks.
Tina - Thanks. I did a few layers on the background. It also depends on the paper. I was afraid to do too much since it wasn't regular wc paper.
Sherry - I like the box with the words on it too. Thanks so much.
