Along the Tracks

I'm always looking for a different view to sketch and it seems like there aren't too many spots locally that I haven't sketched yet...but I found one today along Overton Street. This is up behind the Long Island Railroad tracks in Sayville. I'm going to have to explore on the other side to find out what that tall, narrow building is. Maybe there is a sketch waiting on the other side. lol

  1. Great find and a lovely sketch as a result! The graffiti adds character to the scene. I can't wait to see your sketch from the other side of the tracks.

  2. Great sketch, Joan. Yes, a very interesting building. Can't be a silo so let us know what you find out.

  3. This is super Joan - great spot! You have left us with a couple of questions, not just the tall narrow building - what is the word on the red building and what is the whitish image at the bottom? How about the tilted box with the letters in the middle of thhe painting and were those two trees really there or did you add them for artistic framing? Great painting!

  4. Thanks, Val. I had trouble reading the graffiti so I don't know what the words are. The images at the bottom looked like dinosaurs but I'm sure they are symbolic of something...probably sexual. lol Yes, the trees were there. I left a few of them out.
