The day after the fiasco with the bathtub and my face, my sister and I went out plein air painting near Myrtle Beach. Last year we found this quaint town called Georgetown with this historic center and several shrimp boats and shrimp companies. We headed back there again on Saturday and I did this painting of one of the boats. I like the nets hanging, but the boat has so many parts, and I'm not sure what they are. I did my best. lol This is about 5.5 x 8. It was sad to see when we got there that a big section of the historic stores and restaurants has burned down in a fire in the fall. I hope they will be able to rebuild them.
I forgot to add this photo of the sketch with the scene behind it.

I loved your collages, but it's great to see your paintings again! Hope your face is feeling better! :-(
ReplyDeleteThis came out great - it looks just like I remember it. All the "stuff" looks authentic to me. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tina. I enjoyed the collages but enjoy the sketching and painting too.
ReplyDeleteMickey, it was fun doing the class with you and then sketching on location!
This looks like a boat I could live on were it not for all the fishing paraphernalia. Lovely piece, Joan. Hope you are healing and feeling better.
ReplyDeleteLOL Sherry, it may smell a bit from all the shrimp. Thanks. My face is doing better. The bruises are a little less vibrant today.
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the boat Joan, well drawn.
ReplyDelete...you made a fab job of such a difficult subject, you have lots of patience, and talent me dear :-)
ReplyDeleteJust extraordinary Joan - your eye for detail right down to the writing on the boat is amazing. You captured the shadows too...you are so talented. Thanks for sharing. Hope your eye is starting to return to normal.
