Wednesday the Patchogue Sketch Club made what will probably be our last visit to Flo's Luncheonette for the season. It was a cool, crisp night, but there were still some people dining outdoors.
This was done in my Stillman & Birn Alpha Sketchbook.
What a coincidence, just as I popped in here I got a notification from my blog saying you had just popped over there. Thanks for dropping by and for your kind comment too. You put me to shame though as my good intentions of doing lots of plein air this summer went out the window sadly. Your sketch is fabulous. You captured the moment with lots of expression.
ReplyDeleteJoan, you have such an intuitive touch for these outdoor scenes. Just love them.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Laura! Funny how we were both visiting each other's blogs at the same time.
ReplyDeleteJo - You are sweet...thanks!
So sad that its going to be the last time for the season!!
ReplyDeleteI don't want the Summer to leave us! But then, I think of all those colors in the Autumn!!!! You painted Flo's luncheonette beautifully.!!
Lovely sketch of a bittersweet time... Alas, summer is over in Seattle, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the painting, but it will just be a memory of summer now. Ah
ReplyDeleteThanks Hilda, Tina, and Polly...but i'm not giving up on summer yet! I am sure we will have a few warm days where I can go to the beach with my sweatshirt handy just in case.
ReplyDeleteLove the colours in this painting Joan. Your sketchbook seems to be very good holding your watercolours, do you favour this Stillman & Birn over any others.
ReplyDeletewhat a picturesque place Joan. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ann. I use all kinds of sketchbooks. This Stillman & Birn one I love for sketching that involves the use of ink lines. It doesn't work as well for really wet washes.
ReplyDeleteIntroverted Art - Thank you.
