The other day I headed down to the dock in West Sayville to sketch. This was an area that was flooded during Hurricane Sandy and parts of it were ruined. They seem to be working on replacing some of the pilings and boards. This is about 4 x 5.
Beautiful scene you've captured, Joan. There is something about this type of crane equipment or whatever it is that I love. I think it is the "wheels" that I find so mesmerizing and almost iconic.
I appreciate getting your sketched reports of progress in the area... I hope things are back to normal soon.
ReplyDeleteJoan I love your ability to see a painting anywhere. Though a sad event, it is a lovely way to document it. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteGREAT job, Joan!!! I'm so glad to see so much being rebuilt!!!

ReplyDeleteTina - It will be a long battle in some areas. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLaura - I take the good and the bad. Thanks so much!
Lin - Thanks. They have made some progress but there is still so much to be done in some areas.
Sherry - That's the part of the crane I like best too. Thanks.
Nice painting. I'm glad to see they are rebuilding the dock. I like the way you drew the wheels on the um, heavy piece of equipment. :)
