Color in Bellport

My ride to Bellport was very productive when I saw this colorful view on Bellport Lane.

Autumn Colors by the Bay

My autumn color quest took me down by the bay in Blue Point the other day. Fire Island is peeking out across the water.

Autumn Path

It is hard not to stop and capture the autumn colors when I see them. Here's another local scene.

Autumn Colors

I'm still chasing the bits of autumn color that perk up the landscapes.

Sunken Meadow Fall Colors

I'm still trying to capture the autumn colors before the leaves all fall off the trees. This was painted at Sunken Meadow State Park on the north shore of Long Island.

Local Autumn Colors

This view in Sayville had a bit of all kinds of colors on the trees, the ground, and the wall.

I finally found a blazing red group of trees! Yay!! Found in Sayville.

Yellows and Greens of Autumn

Finding autumn colors really excites me. I have to search for some trees that are red. The yellow ones seem to be easier to find. This was done in Bellport.

Autumn Colors & Halloween

It was nice to see that there was still some autumn colors on the trees when I got home. I was afraid I might have missed it.

For the Creative Spark Scavenger Hunt one of the items was something Halloween related. Riding thru Sayville I came across a house with decorations on the front lawn including a tall sketeton. This was done as a continuous line sketch on toned paper. White Posca pen was added later.

Michele & Nick's House

A friend of mine and her husband live in East Patchogue on South Country Road. Most of the time when I drive into Bellport I take that route and pass by their house. It always looks so good...especially in the fall. I always say to myself that I should stop and sketch it someday. This year I did stop. Michele and Nick were down in SC at their other house and weren't home. I sat across from their house and painted it with the stunning autumn leaves. They are back up here for the holidays so I called and asked Michele if it was OK if I stopped by for a few minutes. I brought her the 5 x 7 matted painting and gave it to her. Originally she thought it was a painting I had shared on FB the other day that she loved and had reposted on her page...but then she realized it was their house. They were thrilled!! They had missed the autumn colors on Long Island while they were away. I'm so glad they were happy with it.

Michele is one of my big supporters. She reposts a lot of my artwork, encourages me, advertises my shows and events, and tries to get business for me. She's a good friend so I'm glad I was able to do something nice for her.

Port Jeff Looking Down

Port Jeff (Port Jefferson) is quite hilly. If you are lucky enought to find parking up one of the hilly streets you get a nice view down toward Main Street.

Porch Seating

The yellows grabbed my attention as well as the seating on the porch. Autumn colors are the best!

A Street to the Bay

We have so many streets that end at the bay here. They are especially nice with the autumn colors that are still on the trees. This was painted in Sayville.

Michele's House

When I got home from Venice and needed some soothing color I drove along South Country Road in East Patchogue. My friend, Michele and her husband live in a pretty house along the road. The trees in front were glowing with color. I finished about 90% of this sitting in my mobile studio across the street from their house, and finished the other 10% this morning. Michele was in North Carolina at the time I started this and was missing all the wonderful color. I've got to stop by to see her now that they are home again.

Bright Fall Colors

When we arrived home I was glad to see that the fall colors were still around here on Long Island. After the news about my brother I needed to see something beautiful. I know if Joe had been here he would have been taking photos of the autumn colors.

Goodbye, Friend & Pathway Thru the Color

It is with great sadness that I report that my internet friend, Michael Perchard passed away today. He was known on Facebook as Michael East Boston. Although I never met him in person, his constant support, good humor, and artistic joy gave us a special connection. Michael loved painting the ocean...and waves. He went out of his way to be nice to people. He was a big supporter of organ donations and received a double lung transplant in 2017. Without the immunity we count on to fight off sickness, he recently caught Covid twice and didn't survive this last bout. His posts always made me smile and I will miss him. Wait for us in that big art studio in heaven, Michael!

I can still find autumn colors if I search hard enough. There are a lot of areas where the leaves are all off the trees. This was painted in Brookhaven.

This time I didn't go far. This scene was right outside our development.

Bellport Colors

The colors were especially vivid a few days ago when I was in Bellport. I always like views down the street. The building on the left is part of the Bellport Fire Department.
