For Valentine's Day Jerry bought me a lovely bouquet of flowers. It took me a while but I finally sketched them using water-soluble colored inks and watercolors. Now they will last!

Cyclamen Plant

For Valentine's Day Jerry bought me a bouquet of flowers and a cyclamen plant. The plant was wrapped in paper with Valentine hearts all over it. I did get to draw the cyclamen plant, but haven't done the bouquet yet.

Happy Valentine's Day

 Happy Valentine's Day!

Last Wednesday the theme for the Patchogue Sketch Club was Valentine's Day. I hit the Dollar Store (big spender that I am) to see if I could find something interesting to use in a sketch. I found this sort of unicorn/bear and a few things with hearts. Everyone did something interesting and fun.

Flowers in a Vase

Somehow I missed posting this here for Valentine's Day. Jerry bought me a bouquet of nice flowers. This was done with Derwent Aquatone Watercolor Sticks, watercolors, and Zebra Sensations fountain pens with colored ink.

They have kept nicely. Maybe I should paint them again.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

When I was in Port Jefferson on Sunday I stopped at Kilwins, a shop that sells chocolate and ice cream. Their products are delicious and eye catching too. I wasn't buying expensive chocolates but I did have a small scoop of their ice cream. There is a branch of Kilwins in Patchogue and I have sketched inside. While I was talking to the young people who worked at this one I asked if I could take a few photos for sketches/paintings. The chocolate covered strawberries caught my eye and I took a photo of the plate of them.

I focused in on one of them for a little painting.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!!!
Here's a zentangle heart I created today.

And a gelli print I did for Valentine's Day.

And a Valentine's Day still life I did last Wednesday with my sketch group.

I hope your Valentine's Day is or was great!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!!!
For Valentine's Day Jerry got me a bouquet of rainbow roses. The petals are all different shades of pink and purple mixed in the same flower.

I googled them and this is what Wikipedia says about them:
The rainbow rose is a rose that has had its petals artificially coloured. The method exploits the rose's natural processes by which water is drawn up the stem. By splitting the stem and dipping each part in different coloured water, the colours are drawn into the petals resulting in a multicolored rose. With these changes to the rose, it causes them to not live as long as an uncoloured rose.[1][2] Besides roses, other cut flowers like the chrysanthemum, carnation, hydrangea, and some species of orchids can also be colored using the same method.[3]

I'm not sure I like the brightly colored, sort of crayola colors but the ones I have are lovely.

I hope your Valentine's Day is filled with love!!! Enjoy!

Sweet Sentiments

Happy Valentine's Day!
Even though I bought a box of these little sweet hearts, I much prefer chocolate as a Valentine treat. But I do love the little messages on the hearts. The sugar rush from actually eating these is not worth all the calories. lol However they were perfect models for my Valentine card this year.
Enjoy the day and cherish those you love!

Happy Valentine's Day

This is the painting I did for my Valentine's Day cards that I sent out. I send out so many that I can't understand how the Post Office isn't in the black yet. lol I bought a tiny box of chocolates to use as a model. There were 4 chocolates in the box, but all the painting rules say use an uneven number of items, so I forced myself to eat one of them. This is titled "Sweet Treats." Enjoy them...I promise you won't have to worry about the calories.
Happy Valentine's Day!
