Ranger's Station

When you go to Smith Point State Park you are at the eastern end of Fire Island. There is a ranger's station as you cross the bridge to the barrier island. You can get informations about Fire Island there, and they often give classes to the public. I love going up to their top level where you can see a bird's eye view over the dunes and the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Great South Bay on the other side.

  1. I have never been there, Joan!! Looks interesting. I’m in such a rut... I feel like I’m in prison.. I did my time and it’s definitely time to leave my house.
    Another beautiful watercolor.!!!!

    1. Hilda, getting out in the car is good. I don't worry about other people. I just sit someplace scenic and sketch or even read. I just can't stay indoors for this length of time. Hope you manage to get out.

  2. This is a super piece Joan. I really like the texture you achieved in the mid and foreground.

    1. Val, thanks so much. It was fun to do different textures for the rolling dunes and grasses.
