I started sketching this morning around 10:00 and finished this around 3:00. Most of this was sketched live from the TV broadcasts. When the inauguration itself was over I used some internet references to refine the sketches and add color. I couldn't find a member of the Marine Band with a red cap, but I specifically wrote that in my sketchbook so I wouldn't forget.

Excellent captures, Joan! I wanted to sketch Amanda Gorman too, but I was too moved by the poem. I'm glad you got her! And now we can all breathe easier!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tina. It was hard to sketch some of them because I really wanted to pay attention to what they were saying. For some I just did a basic outline in pencil and then went over it with ink and watercolor.
