For day 18 of "30 Paintings in 30 Days" I used a photo of a hibiscus that I had taken in someone's garden. They always remind me of my sister, Fran, who had them growing in her yard. This is 5 x 5 inches.

The other evening my sketch group met at the Nook Cafe and Pizzaria in West Sayville. It is a new, very friendly place to have a snack or coffee. They loved the idea of having us sketch there. I'm sure we will be heading back.
Wow, Joan both of these paintings are stunning! You've captured the frilliness of the hibiscus' petals perfectly! So nice that they remind you of your sister. I'm a big fan of hibiscus and have recently bought three different varieties ready to plant into big pots to put on the balcony. Just need to find some pots I like!
ReplyDeleteJoan, exquisite hibiscus. The cafe is so well done. You always inspire….

ReplyDeleteSuch a lot of detailin such a small painting - wonderful! I like the sketch of the cafe too - again so much detail!
ReplyDeleteWendy, thanks. I love hibiscus plants but even in the summer I don't get enough sun on my patio for them to thrive.
