The Tree

I went over to the Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Oakdale on Sunday to sketch. They have so many amazing trees and I was concerned that they might have lost a lot during the hurricane. There were some large trees that were destroyed but things could have been a lot worse.

So I picked one that looked healthy and strong to paint. This is 5 x 7.

  2. Ah Joan - how pretty and peaceful...especially after everything that has happened there - glad to see that this lovely tree is still standing.

  3. I must echo Debbie's sentiments. Love this rather gnarled trunk too. Is this an oak?

  4. Beautifully done, Joan! I'm so glad you check on Bayard and glad things weren't as bad as they could have been. It's been cold and rainy here .. makes me sleepy ....Hope you're doing well and so glad you're still getting out to paint! HUGS!!!!
