Schmitt's Farm Stand

Yesterday I took a ride out to Riverhead. It was a sunny day but not quite warm enough to sit outside and paint. I found a farm stand up along Sound Avenue that I hadn't painted before. How could I have missed this trailer with the striped awning? I sat in my car in the parking lot and painted.
This is 5 x 7.

  1. Dear Joan - this is a great plein air piece - I love the farm stands that still continue to thrive in some areas. Thanks for stopping by to visit my blog and post a comment. Hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving.

  2. You've been busy! The potter, the tree, this farm stand -- great sketches, all! I really admire how you seem to get out there with your sketchbook every day! A beautiful habit.

  3. Joan!
    Love this one.
You did a great job on the striped awning! I also love the tractor
I love the way you painted the shadows. A very successful piece.
Hate to see fall come to an end. But I do love winter!
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  5. What a wonderful autumnal piece, Joan! It looks like it is pretty nice out in your neck of the woods! We've had one dip into the high 20's so far this season but this week has us in the 50's again.

  6. Wonderful painting, Joan! I've traveled many times on Sound Avenue and when you travel on some side roads, you'll hit some great little barns still hanging on..of course, don't ask me where...I can never find any "place" twice..LOL!!!

  7. Debbie - Thanks so much!

Tina - Thanks. I try to get out as often as possible.

Michael - Thanks. The problem with winter is that it is usually too cold to paint outside.

    Lin - Thanks so much.

Sherry - Thank you. It is getting a little cold to be out even with my earmuffs and gloves.

Hilda - I think the barns hide when they know we are looking for them. lol Thanks.
