LIPA Crew

This morning I decided I needed to sketch something that represents the situation here on Long Island after Hurricane Sandy. The LIPA management (Long Island Power Association) was very much unprepared for the devestation we received, but the crews have been working night and day to repair the lines that are still down in many areas. My thanks to the local crews as well as the crews who have left their homes in other parts of the country and Canada to help us out.

  1. OMG, this is so frickin' cute!! I like the orange cones.
Do you know about Urban Sketchers? There is a page on flickr that you can join and post your painting. I think this one would be a big hit!

  2. I think this is so lovely, Joan. Maybe the sense of brotherhood evidenced through your words, but it is just a really well done watercolor. I love it.

  3. Dear Joan just getting caught up with my blog visits. So glad you were not out of power too long. Grateful that your area didn't get flooded. I know it must be hard seeing all the devastation around your place. Hope you will have a better week coming. Glad you got to meet a friend - going to hop over and visit. Take care!

  4. Nora - Thanks. I've been posting some of my sketches on the NYC Urban Sketchers. I guess I should put them on the regular Urban Sketchers too.

Sherry - Thanks. I think these guys went straight from my sketch to my sister's house in NJ and finally turned her power on for her. Yeah!

Debbie - Thanks so much! Mother Nature isn't so nice at times.
