Magnolia Blossoms

The other day I went to the Bayard Cutting Arboretum. The magnolias there had just started to bloom. I took my painting chair and sat down near the lowest blossoms and sketched one branch coming down from the right and another from the left. I met quite a few people who were visiting the arboretum and stopped at a social distance to chat along their path. It was a really nice day.

  2. Joan this is truly beautiful. It sounds like you had such a nice time at the Arboretum. I have never grown a Magnolia but would love a tree in my yard...may have to put that on my "bucket list". Have a super weekend. Hugs!

    1. Debbie, thank you. I think magnolias are such beautiful trees. I once heard a woman complaining to her friend that she was going to cut down her magnolia because it was "too messy." Can you imagine? Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Val, thanks so much. We had a few really nice days followed by a few days of rain/showers. Today was much cooler so no sitting outside.

  4. Really wonderful! There's a variety of magnolia flower shapes and your coloring is just the right touch.
