Yesterday I went to do portraits with my art group. We missed last week so it was good to get back to doing one. Sally posed for my Day 21 gouache painting for the "30 Paintings in 30 Days" Challenge. I am finding it much easier to do skin tones with gouache instead of watercolors.
Dear Joan - looks like you have certainly mastered the skin tones with gouache. I can see the warm and cool shades which make up the face. Hope you are having a great week. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Debbie. Enjoy!
DeleteAll of your gouache paintings so far have been super Joan but the tones here are really nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Val. I didn't think there would be such a difference between doing skin tones in gouache and watercolors. It makes it easier.
DeleteYou're really rockin' the gouache with this challenge! That's the best reason to participate in any challenge, I think -- find a way to challenge yourself to work on something you've been wanting to explore thoroughly.

Thank, Tina. I originally intended to so some yupo and masa paintings, but it has been interesting to just work in the gouache and challenge myself with that.
DeleteExcellent portrait. Natural colors.
