On Tuesday my PALS plein air group returned to the wildflower field up at Avalon Preserve Stony Brook. I had to search around a bit to find a slightly different view than I have already painted.
I ended up painting under my small umbrella since it was so hot and my view had no shade...I was dripping wet just standing and painting. This is 8 x 10.

You can sketch this field as much as you want -- it's gorgeous! I'm sweating just reading your post, though! ;-)
ReplyDeleteConditions sounds like they were difficult Joan but what a lovely outcome, this is a lovely scene painted beautifully
ReplyDeleteIt is a challenge to paint in the heat but it turned out beautifully! I love the way you suggest the flowers and give the impression of distance.
ReplyDeleteI wish you a nice end of summer, I am traveling to visit my folks and will be away until September.
I Agree that it's a challenge to paint outside in summer. Here in Greece : heat plus wind makes it impossible! However you manage a very nice painting!
ReplyDeleteApparently the discomfort kept you sharp because this is yet another beautiful painting, Joan! I tell you I would have cut and run. I so despise the high heat and humidity of summer; it just makes me miserable and has since I was a little girl. I'm not overly fond of the opposite extreme we have in winter but I'd take that over summer. Ah well, my season is coming soon enough.
ReplyDeleteTina - Thanks so much! It was a bit warm.
ReplyDeleteLorraine - Thank you!
Celia - Have a great time! Thank you.
Christine - Thanks!
Sherry - I'm OK if I can be near the beach where there is usually a breeze. The air wasn't moving here. lol Thank you.
Ah Joan - I so admire your stamina - you always manage no matter the weather to paint something lovely. This certainly is. I can feel the heat too from how you captured these beautiful wildflowers. Hope you are having a lovely day. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Debbie! It is good to see you. Hope you had a nice time. Thanks.
ReplyDeletethis is a lovely colorful painting. I'd love to be there to walk along that path.
