Camera Night

The Patchogue Sketch Club had cameras as our subject for sketching last night. Several of the members had old camera and equipment that were fun to sketch. We had lots of different kinds to choose from. First I did this one which was a Kodak box type camera.

When I finished with the one above there was an old camera with its back facing me. I'm not sure what camera the leather cover belonged to. I brought along the canister of film. It was something that was in with some old cameras and equipment that belonged to my father-in-law.

  1. What a cool theme you guys came up with! I just got rid of an old camera case like that.

    1. I have two old ones and the stitching on the cases is so old it is disintegrating.

  2. Joan this was certainly an interesting subject. Isn't it fascinating when one starts sketching something from the past that evokes forgotten memories. Your sketches of the cameras brought back a memory of an old Kodak camera my folks had. Thanks for sharing friend. Hugs!

    1. Thanks. It was interesting to see all the changes that cameras have gone through.

  3. An interesting set of subjects and adding the roll in the last piece really helped show the difference from today's cameras. Nice sketches Joan!

    1. Val, thanks. I don't know if you can even find film rolls any more, not to mention someplace that develops the rolls.

  4. Nicely done, Joan! Never tried the Duoflex but it looks like the second one is of Pentax made based on the film advance lever and that centered latch on the camera body cover where you hook the cover attachment. Both fun sketches!

    1. LOL We had quite a few that were very similar looking that people brought in. I have one from my father that he always used until he decided it was time for me to take over doing the family photos. My aunt had given it to him to take baby photos of my older sister.

  5. Ah, what a cool night for the sketchers. My son would have loved seeing those, he is a photographer. Good sketches.
