30 Paintings in 30 Days - Day 7 - Lobster

Just because I'm doing animals it doesn't mean it also has to be a pet. Right now I am visiting family up in Maine, and a Maine trip wouldn't be right without having lobster for dinner at some point. I had no qualms about sketching the poor thing before his demise.

For this painting I used watercolors, my Elegant Writer pen which bleeds to a nice blue grey, and a black brush pen.

You can check out the other paintings for the challenge here on Leslie Saeta's blog:

Tonight I also did a sketch for the Wet Canvas Scavenger Hunt which I have been neglecting. We are given 26 items to sketch in whatever medium we wish. We post them as we do them. This sketch counts for a door, a corner of a room, a lamp, a comfortable place to sit, a pillow, and some books. It is a fun way to get in practice sketching all sorts of items you would probably never draw.

  1. Oh yeah, I can tell you are in Maine. Did it taste as good as it looks? Ok, now you guilted me back to the scavenger hunt, hmmm, think that was one of my things I was supposed to keep up. Going right now!!!! Stay warm up there, if we are low 20s here can't imagine what it was there. Oh, yes I am wishing we had a ferry to ride down here!!

    1. Yes, it tasted as good as it looks. I enjoy doing the scavenger hunts especially when I'm at someone else's house and there are different things to draw. It was 6 degrees this morning and now it is a balmy 20 at 11:30am. A bit too cold for me.

  2. Being land-locked and not an adventurous eater, I am not very familiar with lobster but it looks good to me. The scavenger hunt sounds like a great way to stretch your drawing wings; I might just propose it to my art club. Have a great day Joan and stay warm!
