The Grange

The Patchogue Sketch Club met at The Islip Grange in Sayville the other evening. It was the first outing in a long time where I was able to sit outside and paint. I dressed warmly with long undies, a scarf, a down jacket, a hat, and toasty winter boots. Two of my friends opted to sit in their cars, but three of us braved the cold. I liked this scene with the hills (where the kids were sledding a few weeks ago) and the shadows.

Don't forget to check for my day 3 posting on my fake blog, Floral Fantasy.

  5. Tina, how right you are! Thanks.

Laura, it seems so much more natural to be outside and so much easier to get closer to your subject. Thank you.

Sherry, thanks. A few minutes later all the sunlight was gone.

  7. Hi Joan, good on you for braving the cold!
I love all your arboretum paintings and sketches - as usual you do plants so well! I also loved how you sketched at the home depot store and it was great how the staff took it all in their stride!
Lots of beautiful work to feast on as usual on your lovely blog!!
