Return to Flo's

Last Wednesday evening the Patchogue Sketch Club made our first visit of the season to the outdoor Flo's Luncheonette in Blue Point. We usually sketch there several times through the course of the summer because it is such a colorful, fun place to visit...and eat if so inclined. It is such a typical beachy food shack with burgers, fries, seafood, and ice cream. I think just looking at the place piles on a few pounds. lol

This was done across a double page spread in a sketchbook that my friend, Gina made for me. The paper isn't watercolor paper, so it doesn't handle like paper I usually use. But I want to finish up the sketchbook because we are going to have our sketchbooks on display soon in the Art Space Gallery in Patchogue through the Patchogue Arts Council which we are a part of. I still have a few more sketches before I complete this book.

  4. I see nary a ripple so it looks like the paper takes water well. The colors are beautiful! I am reminded of a place on Ruston Way in Tacoma that sells food right at the base of the pier. Sigh...

  5. Dear Joan - I think I might be too busy eating to sketch this wonderful looking place. Are the umbrellas different colors or did you use artistic license? Your blues with the orange is such a great compliment. This looks like a great spot to enjoy summer's arrival. Hope you have a great week.

  6. Thanks, Hilda. The umbrellas make it so summery.

Tina, it is a fun place. Thanks.

Michael, I'm sure you have lots of places like this on the shore. Thank you.

Sherry - Thanks. It takes the watercolors without buckling, but I have a hard time doing large areas with washes.

Debbie, I try not to eat the food. I would go for all the fried stuff. LOL Thank you.
