Live Model

 The Patchogue Arts Council arranged for a live model for the Patchogue Sketch Club. Donna was our model and she came in a sort of 60s style outfit...very colorful and wearing white boots. She also had a guitar for a prop. She was good and we all enjoyed sketching her. Poses ranged from 5 - 20 minutes. Here the longer poses are shown first and the 5 minute poses are at the bottom. I'm glad I had my watercolors with a bright orange and yellow, as well as a bright orange watercolor pencil.

Hector

 The celebration of the 18th anniversary of the Patchogue Arts Council coincided with the night the Patchogue Sketch Club normally meets. Their party was held at Spy Coast a restaurant/bar in Patchogue. Since we are members of PAC we were invited to the party. There was live music, socializing, cake, and a model for us in the rear of the room. Hector, who we have sketched before, posed for us. He is really a good model and comes prepared. We didn't have the setup we usually had, but it was fun anyway.

Live Model

 On Wednesday evening the Patchogue Sketch Club had a live model. It was so nice to have a variety of poses and an excellent model. The poses ranged from 2 minutes to a longer pose of 20 minutes.

Lefty Lucy as the Bride of Frankenstein

Last night Lefty Lucy was costumed in quarantine as the Bride of Frankenstein. I had a hard time at the beginning figuring out what her headpieces was but after a few poses she came closer and I could see it a little more clearly. As always she does a series of 1, 2, 5, 10, and then a 20 minute pose.

Sketches - Lefty Lucy Session 3 & a Virtual Trip to Madrid

Last night was the 3rd live session with Lefty Lucy Costumed in Quarantine. She moved from Facebook to Zoom for the session, and it seemed to work a bit better.

The other day the #VirtualSketch group went to Madrid. I wandered the streets a bit and found this interesting chocolateria. I think it would be a place I would stop. I left this as a brush pen sketch.

Happy Easter & Lefty Lucy

Happy Easter to all of you who are celebrating today.

This is a painting I did a while ago that I decided fit the holiday spirit. I hope this Easter, although it is rather unusual for most of us, brings us the hope, faith, and joy were are needing right now.

Somehow I missed posting about sketching Lefty Lucy this week. Lefty Lucy is a showgirl in New Orleans and though Costumed in Quarantine she has been posing several nights a week for artists. She wears a different costume for each session and it has been an enjoyable experience. The two times I joined in the sessions were on Facebook, but due to problems I think she is switching to Zoom this coming week. I missed the quicker poses but was able to get sketches done for a good part of the session.

Although the modeling session is free, she does say that tips are greatly appreciated, and like any other business person right now she needs to make a bit of money, so I don't mind tipping at all.

Costumed in Quarantine

A fellow NYC sketcher told me about a sketch event that was publicized on Facebook. Last night the entertaining Lefty Lucy held an event where she modeled live on YouTube. It was a socially distancing event called "Costumed in Quarantine." The poses ranged from 2 minutes to 20 minutes. 

These are the 2 to 5 minute poses that she started with.

This was my favorite sketch which was a 20 minute sketch. There was another 20 minute sketch but I missed it.
