Crab Meadow

We finally had a warm, sunny day last week so I headed to Crab Meadow Beach in Northport. This is a Long Island treasure that once the summer season starts I can’t go to because I am not a resident. It was a perfect day to sit and paint so I did two sketches, one in watercolor and one in watercolor and ink. It was a perfect day.

Today's posting from my iPad showed me I can post two images, but I can't change the size or go back and edit the post. I went back to my laptop to do both...but I won't be able to do that next week. You may have to adjust to seeing the sketches and photos as smaller images. :(

View from Crab Meadow

A little ways around the corner from yesterday's sketch is this view. Depending on the tide the view is always different, but I always love it. I have painted this view several times before. This is 5 x 7.

Crab Meadow Dunes

I went up to Northport the other day which is on the northern side of Long Island. There are some nice spots by the water to sketch and paint, but once the "season" arrives you can't park there unless you are a resident. Crab Meadow is partly on the water and partly on an inlet and has several nice spots to sit and sketch. You just have to watch out for high tide, ticks, and poison ivy. I was sitting low down to sketch this...watching the water level carefully. lol

30 Paintings in 30 Days - Day 4 - Crab Meadow SOLD

This is my Day 4 painting for Leslie Saeta's "30 Paintings in 30 Days. Here is a link to the page where all the paintings by the participating artists are being displayed. http://lesliesaeta.blogspot.com This was painted from a photo I took up at Crab Meadow in Northport, NY. I like the way this came out and am even thinking about doing it larger. This is 5 x 7.

Crab Meadow by Joan Tavolott SOLD

Yesterday I was out driving and found this bakery in Islip...it called me to paint it.
I only visited the outside and didn't get any closer than sitting in my car. lol I was afraid that if I saw or smelled the treats I would want something.

Crab Meadow

Last week I joined a few friends at Crab Meadown in Northport for a bit of painting.
The tide was really low so a lot of the sand was showing. It is a pretty spot.

Crab Meadow

While in the Northport area we went to a spot called Crab Meadow. There were marshes and grasses
and lovely water views. We did have to watch out because the tide was coming up quickly.
