Brussel Sprouts

I love to see the fresh vegetables in the markets. Between Thanksgiving and now some of them offer Brussel sprouts on the stalk. I always find that an interesting thing to sketch...and eat. For some reason these tasted very peppery. FYI I checked with Wikipedia and it says that the Brussels sprout has long been popular in Brussels, Belgium, from which it gained its name.

Brussel Sprouts

Somehow the stalk of Brussel sprouts I bought before Thanksgiving was forgotten and I didn't post it. Sketching this wasn't easy because it is so long. I really needed a panoramic sketchbook to fit this without resorting to using two pages in one of my sketchbooks. Instead I did it in an 11 x 14 sketchbook where I do several sketches on one page. I just marked out an area that looked like it was big enough to fit this.

Happy Thanksgiving

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!! My thoughts and prayers go out to all of those who have lost so much from the recent storm. The damage and loss of life and property is only being added to by the frustration they are encountering trying to get their lives back together. I wish all of you the best!

On Sunday when I was at the farmstand below I bought a stalk of Brussel sprouts. I think it was callilng to be painted. This is about 4 x 6.
