On Saturday I headed over to Bellport to sketch the local annual Easter Bonnet and Crazy Hat Parade. Festivities started at the firehouse, moved down South Country Road and around the corner to the gazebo. I got there early and sketched some of the kids and adults waiting for things to start. This wasn't the official Easter Bunny for the parade...he's a local, harmless character who apparently likes to take part in most town events.
The event moved on led by an old firetruck.
The Easter Bunny then sat in the gazebo and kids came up to have photos taken and each of them got an Easter egg. I stood outside the gazebo railing to sketch the bunny event.
My friend was there taking photos for the local paper and she snapped this photo of me sketching.

Looks like a fun day of sketching! Love the bunny!
ReplyDeleteJoan, so wonderful. I love how you turn the ordinary into extraordinary.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tina, Hilda, and Jo! It looked like it would be a fun even to sketch.
ReplyDeleteLove the peek at you working :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun event! I don't know how often you stand to do your sketching but My hat goes off to you! I can't imagine using one arm and hand as a support and palette holder while the other does the drawing. Well done Joan!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sheila!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Val. Luckily I have a tiny palette. I don't usually stand but I did to sketch the people by the parade and the bunny who was in the gazebo.
These are wonderful Joan!
ReplyDeleteYour Easter Parade characters are so cute!
