I love being surrounded by water here on Long Island. Both the views of the bays and the views of the ocean bring a smile to my face. This was painted in Hampton Bays.
Here is an update on my amaryllis. I wonder how long it will be before I ever see a flower...
I didn't know you were waiting on an amaryllis! I know they can seem to take forever, but then one day it'll just pop! Looking forward to your sketch of the blossom!

Goodness, Joan! Your soft style is just always so inviting, so fetching. Love the bay, love the cottage below. I'm dying to see what it looks like on the inside!
ReplyDeleteHi Joan, I miss the ocean so it's nice to come here and see your paintings of the water. Can't wait for your amaryllis to bloom.
ReplyDeleteThe late winter scene of the bay is so interesting with the muted colors. Good luck with the amaryllis- I think you are very brave leaving your husband in charge of your plants, I am sure mine would forget or over water - lol
ReplyDeleteDear Joan beautiful painting of the ocean. I am sure I would want to stay and watch the ocean forever. Amazing how it can be calm and then so turbulent. Hope your amaryllis blooms soon. Have a super weekend. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tina. This is the first time I've tried growing one. I never thought I got enough light for them to be successful.
ReplyDeleteSherry, thanks so much. I wonder what the cottage looked like inside.
Hi, Carol! Glad you got a taste of the ocean from my sketch. You know me...I couldn't live away from the water.
Val, thanks. My husband even rotated it every day so it wouldn't be leaning. lol
Debbie, yes, the ocean does change so dramatically. I think that is what I love about it. I'll continue updates on the amaryllis.
Looking forward to seeing your amaryllis in bloom. Mine was wilted this morning, so that's the end of it, but I got a few good sketches and lots of photos for future use.
ReplyDeleteMickey, slowly it is growing!
