Sea Tiles

I decided this had too many images to try and post them on my iPad, so I went straight to my laptop. I have some of my alcohol ink tiles at a gift shop/gallery called, "The Catbird Seat" in Sayville, the next town over from me. The owner suggested that I do some sea themed ones for the upcoming summer season. I will be taking these over to the shop before I leave on my trip next Tuesday. These were a bit harder to do than the flowers I've posted before because they need to pretty much resemble the creature I was aiming for. The flowers can be a bit more abstract. I like the way these came out. Do you have a favorite?

  1. The seahorses are my favorite, although I also love the starfish! All very cheerful and summer beachy.

  2. Voting for the seahorses too, but I like the blue on the shell. Think they will all be strong.

  3. I adore the turtle! They are all wonderful though and I think the gllery owner knows her market. These should fly out. What did you seal them with?

    1. Julie, thanks so much. They are sealed with a pour-on resin called, Envirotex Lite. I tried spraying them with a sealer originally but it didn't make them waterproof or heat resistant. This is a pain to work with but works well.

  5. Wow - difficult to do in alcohol inks but you did a great job Joan. I like the red seahorse and the shell best but they are all great and should do well at the gift shop.
