Brookhaven Field

I was searching for autumn colors but didn't have much success the other day. Instead I found a field near the marina in Brookhaven. I was there for over an hour sitting and working from my car. Finally a woman came over and asked it there was a reason I was sitting there for so long, so I showed her the small painting. She smiled and said to stay as long as I needed.

  1. This is lovely, Joan. You captured such a beautiful color harmony. I especially like the color of the tree trunks NOT being a chestnut brown!
I enjoyed seeing the Bond Street paintings too.

  2. Lovely! Glad you found some color. No one ever asks me what I'm doing when I sketch from my mobile studio. I'm glad I don't raise suspicion. ;-)

  3. I love how you vary your strokes to create depth and interest, it is a beautiful painting! Kind of funny to think someone would find you suspicious.

    1. Debbie, thank you. I've had people come over to the car before and ask if I am having car problems.

  5. This is lovely Joan. Also, I am glad in this day and age that someone finally asked you why you were sitting there so long - nice to see that some people are aware of what is going on around them!

    1. Thanks. I don't mind them asking since it is their neighborhood.

  6. Great sketch and story. I got asked a couple of times in NM. I don’t usually sketch in the car here.
