Setauket View

I headed up to Ward Melville Park in Setauket one day this week. This is the same park where I was painting the yellow forsythia last year and my photo was taken for one of the NYC newspapers. This time I was there alone except for the people walking their dogs. The yellow forsythia was in bloom again. I painted it with part of the bridge over the water.

My fake journal, "Floral Fantasy" is finished except for the "Wrap Up" post I added today. Here is the link in case you are interested in reading it.

Today is May 1 and I began another challenge, Every Day in May. A list is provided with something to sketch every day of the month. Here is my sketch for today.

"a favorite food"

Yes, pizza is my favorite "food." Chocolate might beat it out as a favorite, but I consider it an indulgence not a food. lol Take a minute and tell me what your favorite food is.

  1. The forsythia are gorgeous! And pizza is probably within my top 3 fave foods! I'll look forward to your Every Day in May. I thought about participating, but I'm going to be out of the country for half the month, so I figured it would be too hard to keep up with. It'll be fun to see what everyone else is sketching every day, though!

  2. I cannot believe how well you managed that slice of pizza. It looks perfect!! I chose to do a burger for the food, as you know. Anyway, that landscape is stunning, Joan. I love the stone bridge and the yellow forsythia just brings the page to life!

  3. Pretty landscape! And the pizza is making me hungry.

  4. Thanks Tina! You could have done a French version of EDM.

Sherry, thanks. It is so great to see everything finally in bloom here.

    LOL Thanks, Mickey!

  5. Yay! You're doing the EDIM challenge!! That's a very yummy looking pizza slice!

That landscape with the bridge is exceptional! Such a great variety in the foliage. You only get that when painting on location.
