Inktober Day 26

 Once in a while the weather keeps me from going out to sketch. This past week we had what around here is usually called a nor'easter but this time was renamed a bomb cyclone. I don't know who made up the term but I do know that the west coast was also affected by one. We had heavy rain and strong winds, so I stayed home. Of course I needed a subject for my Inktober sketch so I looked around and spied a cluster of tomatoes. Not only would they suffice for Inktober, they would fit in the current Wet Canvas scavenger hunt. I just didn't have the heart to forgo color for this and pulled out the Zebra Zensations fountain pens I have. I wasn't sure I would be able to get the colors I needed but they worked using the red, the (bright) green and the purple. It gave me more shades than I had expected...and helped brighten the day a bit.

 While participating in the Wet Canvas Scavenger Hunt I put together a sill life for two of the items on the list. The tomatoes are for "tastes good" and the perfume is for "smells good."

Blogger is making changes...and I don't think I like what they are doing. I came to my blog and couldn't even see the page from yesterday!!! I found a way to get back to how the page was arranged previously, but that will only last until September and then I will have to use the new version. I hate when they change things and don't explain how to work with the new changes. Grrrr!!!

Anyway I did this small painting from a still life setup of my "tomatoes on the vine" from the supermarket. There were originally four of them but we ate one for dinner. Two, as you can see are still connected, but one just didn't want to play nice with the others and opted to stand alone.

I am not quite up to date posting for #30x30DirectWatercolor. Some days I just can't get out to do a sketch, so my veggies/fruits will have to do...like in this case.

30 Day Challenge - Day 5 - Avocado Time

No landscape today. Instead for Day 5 of Leslie Saeta's "30 Paintings in 30 Days" challenge I did a still life using some foods I had in the kitchen. I had put a large hole in the side of my tire and only had the donut on my car. I didn't want to go looking for a landscape until I got the tire replaced, which I will do this morning. This was done with gouache.
