Mini Pies

We went to my sister-in-law's house for Thanksgiving dinner. Karen likes to prepare most of the meal herself, but asked me to bring a pie (pecan if possible). Since there were only going to be four of us for dinner I know we always have too much left over. She was already making a pumpkin pie so I made a small pecan pie in a pyrex dish and a mini blueberry pie in a small springform pan because that is Jerry's favorite. In fact I made a second mini blueberry for him to have at home. The mini pies worked well...just enough for dinner and one slice of pecan to bring home.

Thanksgiving Theme

On Wednesday last week my sketch group met at the library and our theme for the night was Thanksgiving. (Due to the holiday prep we aren't meeting this week.) Tina & Brian (married sketchers) brought two 1/2 pies to sketch (blueberry and pumpkin) and cut them up into small pieces. That was good because you know what I am like when I try to sketch food. It always has a bite or two taken out...if it survives at all. lol It was easier to resist in the company of other sketchers. Maybe that is the secret.

We also had several still life setups on the table. This one included gourds, a pumpkin, and a small scarecrow.

Missed a Day!

Can you believe it, I missed a day of posting! Yes...it is true. Yesterday was an extremely busy day. I had to drive up to Middletown, NY to pick up my paintings and those of 3 other artists from the NorthEast Watercolor Society Members Show. Middletown is a good 2 1/2 hrs from me, so Jerry and I left around 9, got up there about 11:40, and then drove to Queens so we could take the subway to Manhattan. We went to dinner and had tickets to see Bette Middler in "Hello Dolly" which was fabulous. We didn't get home until 1:00 am this morning. I went straight to bed and didn't even think about posting...hope you don't mind.

Heres is another snow sketch that I did in my Strathmore Toned Gray sketchbook. This was done in Sayville.

Last week was my hubby's birthday so here are two things that were part of his birthday dinner...blueberry pie...

and his new favorite beer, Stella Artois.

Healthy or Not

There are some foods that just call out to be painted. Here are two.
