I've been doing quite a lot of my sketches lately in an Arteza 5.5 in square sketchbook. The South Bay Art Association is doing a sketchbook project and the sketchbooks will eventually be catalogued and housed in the Brookhaven Free Library. I have until the beginning of November to fill the book. Since a lot of my sketches are small I've started doing them in this book. All of my sketches are Long Island scenes. This one is part of the walkway at Sayville Marina Park.

Lifeguard
This never quite got finished and I think I will leave it without color in the sky and water. I always love the different poses that the lifeguards have when sitting up on their chairs. This lifeguard was at the Sayville Marina Beach.

Lefty Lucy Veiled & Inktober Day 14
Last night was Lefty Lucy Costumed in Quarantine night. She posed again on Zoom, this time in a beautiful black dress and a veiled headpiece...and a few times with a revolver. As I've said before I never know what to expect.
These are 5 minute poses.

Inktober - Day 1 & Day 2 in Sayville
Yes, Inktober 2020 has started. I will be doing my best to do a sketch just using ink for every day in October. I will vary the pens and once in a while the colors I use.
If you read this blog on a regular basis you know my fondness for the houses in Sayville. My Day 1 sketch is of a house on Foster Avenue down near the beach. I wanted to sketch from my car since it was windy, so I had to find a spot through the hedges and trees where I could see across the street to this house. I used my new Lamy pen which is filled with Noodler's Brown Ink which is not waterproof.
