#30x30DirectWatercolor2018 - Day 30 - Gate with Flowers

This is my day 30 painting for the #30x30DirectWatercolor2018 challenge. Our temperature today was supposed to be in the low 90s, so I headed out early to do my painting before it got too hot. I did this sitting alongside a home in Sayville.

I have to say that working directly in watercolor has its benefits. It does make me observe things closely so I can see where the different colors fit. Landscapes and flowers seem to be easier than people or architecture. Anything that involves perspective is normally a challenge and a double challenge when you can't change things if they are wrong. I think direct watercolor can be useful at times, but I will be happy to be able to get back to using ink and sometimes pencil with my watercolors again.

  1. Success! Congratulations on completing your 30x30 watercolor challenge. I must say, your watercolor artworks will never be the same as you observe things more closely now. It'll just get better and better each time from here on.

    1. Drawing directly in pen has the same effect...you have to look closely. Thanks.

    1. Thanks, Tina. I am glad it is over. Didn't even pick up a brush today...that's not true. I painted alcohol ink tiles this morning. OK, I didn't pick up my watercolors yet today. lol
