Then it was our turn. How you hold and turn the sharpened twig is key. We were allowed to add watercolor washes when the drawing was done. This is my sketch of the gardens along Michigan Ave.
After lunch I went to sketchBuckingham Fountain on the other side of the bridge.
In the afternoon I went to a demo by L K Bing. It was impressive to see what he did in a half hour. Then I met a few NY friends and a new friend from Paris and we sketched at North Congress Square. I practiced the twig drawing from the morning.
Your sketches are just super! You really captured the city. I like the twig sketch, but you know me, lazy and go for a ready made pen! The bean is very nifty. You are as fast as your demo artists.
ReplyDeleteJo, yes, using a pen is so much easier. lol Thanks.
DeleteWonderful sketches, Joan. The gardens along Michigan Avenue is very nice!!!
ReplyDeleteHilda, thanks. I was really impressed with Chicago.
DeleteA challenge for sure! Your morning sketch doesn't have the detail that you usually achieve but with a twig - wow! I like your final sketch - much more you so I guess you are getting the hang of the twig. Well done Joan!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Val. The twig gives everything a very rustic look.
