We have a lot of boatyards here on Long Island. Each one is different and each part of the yard is different. This was painted down by the water at Week's Boat Yard. On the left is a device that I think is used for lifting boats in harnesses and putting them in and out of the water.
beautiful sketch! I nearly went out to Port Townsend on Sat as they were sketching in the boat yard.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kate. I love sketching in the boatyards. There is always something fun to sketch.
DeleteJust thinking that pretty soon the snow and cold will be past and you can be out in the air. This scene will look so different in summer I am sure. Just appreciate all the details
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nelvia. I'm waiting for the day they take all the plastic covering off the boats that have been covered up all winter. They will be like newly emerging birds. lol
DeleteWow - such a great sketch Joan... have to agree with Nelvia that the scene will look completely different once summer arrives. In the meantime I am enjoying this one. Hope you are off to a wonderful start for the week. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, thank you so much. Yes, the scene will change and there will be a lot more people around. Have a great week!
DeleteJust loving the distant and oh-so-charming town, Joan. The tree line is well down and I really should study other bloggers' works before I even try to paint. I always forget the great methods I see.
ReplyDeleteSherry, thanks. It is always fun to paint the boatyards and the assortment of crafts and materials that are around.
DeleteThank you Joan - your pictures always give us a glimpse of a different life style and a different locale. This is a very interesting scene and AI imagine when the weather warms that it will get very busy. thanks for sharing
