Port Jeff Boat

 I don't know how this painting escaped being posted since it was done probably two weeks ago. There is a big boatyard in Port Jeff. Most of the boats are covered but there are always a few that aren't like this one. 

Weeks Boat Yard

We have a lot of boatyards here on Long Island. Each one is different and each part of the yard is different. This was painted down by the water at Week's Boat Yard. On the left is a device that I think is used for lifting boats in harnesses and putting them in and out of the water.

Patchogue Boat Yard

Like I said yesterday, I've been drawn to boatyards recently. This one is behind the Blue Point Brewery in Patchogue.

Boatyard

Over the years we've lived out here, I've sketched scenes at this boatyard in West Sayville so many times. There is almost always a big boat being spruced up or repaired. Sometimes if I'm lucky, there are workmen on scaffolding or ladders to include in the painting.

Greenport Boatyard

Before I left for my trip to Maine I went out to Greenport with two friends to paint. There is a great boatyard out there filled with boats that need TLC and assorted rusty objects...perfect for sketching. Security came along and told us that we couldn't be in the boatyard, but my friend, Susan, convinced him that we were three harmless old ladies who wanted to sketch, so he told us just to keep off the docks which are rather rickety. An old crusty boatman came along and regaled us with stories of some of the boats that were there.
