I am presently up in Damariscotta, Maine visiting family just in time for the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regata. While walking this morning I took a few photos of some of the artists at work designing their pumpkins. Usually most of them are decorated on Friday, but except for a few diehards yesterday who set up and worked under tents, the rain kept most of the artists from working. These artists were out there at 7 am working on their designs.
My Inktober sketch is of one of the artist working on her pumpkin.
I just couldn't leave that sketch without color...especially with the trees starting to change. As I continued walking along Main Street I captured a few of the other artists too. Some I couldn't sketch because of the crowds of people downtown.
This lady was setting an eyeball into her pumpkin face.
Here is her pumpkin later much further along.
This one was a sea theme.
Sunflowers were cut into this pumpkin.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the colors you made.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post. Makes me realize fall is here even though our leaves have not begun to turn.

Such fun sketches, Joan! This event must have been a blast!
ReplyDeletePeople are really serious about this pumpkin event arent' they...amazing. We have nothing like that here. Love your paintings of the various participants, you get movement into your drawings :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie, Tina, and Ann. They have a lot of fun activities all weekend long. Monday is the Pumpkin Regata and boat races. All the boats are made from pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun event and you captured the action well in your sketches!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo. The whole thing is a lot of fun.
