I am still doing my "direct in ink" sketches at the beach. Some come out better than others. People are in such strange positions with foreshortening that is difficult to figure out. lol
Sometimes I sketch people that are actually sitting together.
Sometimes I just sketch unrelated subjects.
Lovely sketches of people at the beach Joan. It's fun to sketch people like this.
ReplyDeleteI like these a lot!
ReplyDeleteJoan, your sketches of Bryant Park are fantastic! Your city and rural landscapes are top notch! I love your people at the beach sketches too! I love your reclining women in the three different sketches - they all epitomise relaxing at the beach.
ReplyDeleteI admire your colour work and keep threatening to add colour to mine but I'm too frightened to tamper with it once I finish it in ink.
You can see this paper doesn't react well to watercolors but I add it anyway. It gets all grainy. Even the pen alone gets absorbed too much into the paper.
DeleteThese sketches are all amazing, Joan. You get better with each sketch..
ReplyDeleteYou do so well with foreshortening!! Not easy!! On my way back from the city yesterday I thought of you as I was sitting in the LIRR..........so many subjects and no paper!!
LOL That's when I sketch with whatever I have in my purse.
DeleteLovely... your style is wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous, Joan! I love them all but particularly how powerfully the color adds life.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann, Rogerio, Wendy, Hilda, Emie, and Sherry!
ReplyDeleteI love your people on the beach sketches Joan!
ReplyDeleteThese are fun!! Your foreshortening is great. It is difficult, especially without much shading.
ReplyDeleteDirect in ink is a challenge enough for me... your beach people are incredible! How funny is the woman sleeping, if she only knew! I also love how you portray the rough seas.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kitty, Jo, and Celia! The lady was really soaking up the sun. lol
