The St James General Store in St James is a fun place to visit. They have a bit of everything in the store and a selection of candy that I remember from childhood...like Turkish taffy and those dots on paper. It always brings back memories. Besides...it is such a colorful place too.
Nice job Joan, you captured the perspective of the building quite well. am I seeing things or are you using more pen work in your paintings?
ReplyDeleteI was just there with my sister about a week ago and you nailed it, Joan!!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and all the wonderful details on the building. I love that old porch..oops deck? anyway, we bought lots of candy with lots of memories...and I brought home some licorice pipes for my husband..LOL
again, excellent work....
How fun!! Would they let you sketch all the candies inside?
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful painting, Joan! I like going into the Cracker Barrel stores for some of the same sentiments. Love the colorful outsides and sometimes, progress takes away something vital - to my mind. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have more of these types of stores?
ReplyDeleteDavid - Thanks. I use pen more in my small sketches, and at this time of year I tend to do more small pieces.
ReplyDeleteHilda - Thank you. It is one of those places that has so many fun things.
Tina - Thanks. It is quite crowded inside with all the merchandise. I did take photos of the big glass jars once when I was there. Maybe I'll paint that some day.
Sherry - I love the outside too. Thanks.
