No, I didn't forget about yesterday's painting. I did darken the sky, but now I need to darken the branches of the trees a bit. I'll repost it soon.
This painting was done from my car on the property of the Smithtown Historical Society last week. I loved the snowy bushes and the ice hanging from the roof edges.
This is 5 x 7.

I think I have done more snow paintings this year than I have done in my entire lifetime put together...and we had another storm overnight which changed to rain and is now supposed to turn back to snow tonight. Enough already! I hope you are safe and warm wherever you are. We lost power a few times today for a few minutes each time, so I cooked dinner ahead of time just in case. I wouldn't want to be without food. lol
This is beautiful, Joan! The snow is painted SO well and I love the icicles... Let's hope this storm passes by quickly...I NEED the Spring to come soon...!
ReplyDeleteWell, at least one good thing that's come of all that snow is a beautiful series of sketches. I don't blame you for being sick of it, though!
ReplyDeleteHi Joan, I feel that only a few days have passed since my last visit to your blog, but there is so much to catch up on already! You are amazingly prolific and your work is beautiful. Love the snow on the bushes and the way you've done the building. Love all your previous posts too!
ReplyDeleteYou do the best snow scenes. All those storms are just hanging around to give you more practice time.:)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Joan!!! You are completely inspirational at the moment!! I love the way you've got the snow sitting on the bushes, so convincing with it's subtle shadows!! "Hilltop" in the previous post is superb too, brilliant composition here with it's high horizon, a really evocative image. Super stuff Joan!!!
ReplyDeleteThese snow paintings are lovely. It's hard to paint white but you have cracked it!
ReplyDeleteI love the use of white in this one Joan! Your painting from the previous day is beautiful too! I hope this will be the last of the big storms for the year and you start getting some more springlike weather soon!
ReplyDeleteThis house looks to have a history and I'd love to see the inside of the home. Beautiful painting, Joan.
ReplyDeleteHilda - Thank you. This winter has been a bit much.
ReplyDeleteTina - The snow has kept me indoors too much. Thanks!
Wendy - Thanks! I'm glad you caught up. I do post almost every day.
Cris - Yes, the repeated storms have given me time for a lot of practice. Thank you.
Kevin - Thanks so much for your kind words!
Polly - Thank you.
Celia - Thanks. I finally read an article about shading snow on bushes and it helped.
Sherry - I don't know the history of this house. I should look it up. Thanks!
